Modern Treasury applied to the OCC on October 5, 2026 to establish Modern Treasury National Trust Bank for federally supervised digital asset custody integrated with its payments platform.
CEO Matt Marcus: “This is the first step in a process with the OCC.” If approved, the limited-purpose national trust bank would add digital asset custody and related fiat services. It would not make loans or issue stablecoins.
Modern Treasury continues operating software and PSP business separately. Application subject to OCC review; bank cannot operate without final authorization.
Company has fully integrated stablecoins into payments platform. Proposed bank would let customers custody and move stablecoins and fiat through unified infrastructure.
