Overview
NVIDIA Isaac GR00T is an open humanoid robotics development platform combining foundation models, simulation frameworks, and reference hardware designs. First revealed as GR00T N1 in March 2026; now at N1.7 alongside cosmos-3.
Reference Humanoid Platform (June 2026)
Standardized research humanoid combining:
- unitree H2 Plus body (6 ft, 150 lbs, 31 DOF)
- sharpa five-finger tactile hands
- Jetson Thor compute with Blackwell GPU
- Isaac GR00T software stack (simulation, training, deployment)
Also supports unitree G1 humanoid with reference workflow on GitHub/Hugging Face.
Security Layer
Firmware updates for robot subsystems must flow through NVIDIA chip where secure boot and confidential computing validate authenticity — datacenter-grade security applied to edge robotics.
Research Institutions
Ai2, ETH Zurich, Stanford Robotics Center, UC San Diego plan to use the platform. Availability late 2026 via Unitree.
