Dutch Tax and Customs Administration, Customs, and Benefits Administration halted migration to Microsoft 365 public cloud. State Secretary Eelco Eerenberg informed parliament the agencies will use on-premises or tax-authority-controlled infrastructure plus European open-source collaboration tools. Email and calendar on own infrastructure planned for 2027; personal storage and collaboration open-source solutions in late 2027–2028. Decision follows Adviescollege ICT-toetsing advice citing unacceptable security, backup, and vendor-lock-in risks. ~5,000 of ~42,000 staff already on M365 remain temporarily.
