ThinkRail is JetBrains’ incubator agentic IDE built around the in-process pi coding agent (@earendil-works/pi-coding-agent). Tagline: “The Vibe You Need.”
Features: git-worktree isolated workspaces per agent task with shelf lifecycle and GitHub PR/CI integration; Monaco editor, file tree, terminals; multiple concurrent pi sessions with cost readouts; living SPEC.md graph maintained via spec_* tools; Agent Skills and bundled workflows; MCP server support with OAuth and permission prompts; JetBrains AI or bring-your-own provider auth; desktop (Electrobun) or browser via thinkrail CLI.
Stack: Bun host (packages/server), typed wire (packages/contracts), React 19 web client. Requires Bun 1.4.4, Node ≥22.19 for pi. Apache 2.0 license. Analytics: basic usage events and crash reports; optional additional usage data opt-in.
