Password manager 1Password on Thursday launched 1Password for Agents, allowing users to let agents log into personal accounts without exposing credentials.

When an agent attempts login, a unique digital key is sent to 1Password to confirm the agent’s identity. The user receives an alert and can approve; 1Password then fills credentials for the agent.

Supported agents include Anthropic’s Claude Duet, OpenAI’s Dots and ChatGPT Work, Grok Bot, Meta’s Muse, and Town, with more integrations planned.

“Handing over a password, secret, or credential is a common shortcut to an agent, but can leave people with sensitive information in places they can no longer control as a copy gets saved for the next time,” 1Password said in a blog post.

The launch coincides with Axios reporting U.S. banks detecting agentic activity inside user accounts—not necessarily malicious, but hard to distinguish from unauthorized automation. Bankers called the situation “horrifying”; Chase told Axios customers should not share usernames and passwords with anyone.
