Anthropic announced Claude Duet, a proactive agent experience where Claude surfaces priorities, runs tasks in the background on a virtual machine with its own browser, and requests approval before sending messages, payments, or deletions.
The product targets professionals and small business owners, available as standalone iOS/Android apps and on claude.ai. US Pro and Max users can join a waitlist; usage shares plan limits with core Claude.
Duet sends a morning brief, polls connected apps every few hours, and supports voice or text in one thread. Safety measures include the trustworthy agents framework, credential isolation akin to Claude Managed Agents, auto mode classifier approvals, prompt-injection defenses from browser research, red-team and penetration testing, and a new classifier blocking sharing of credit cards and government IDs unless explicitly instructed for other sensitive categories.
Integrations cover Gmail, Slack, QuickBooks, Stripe, Gusto, LinkedIn, HubSpot, Docusign, Canva, Shopify, and 6,000+ marketplace connectors. Link and Shop Pay enable business purchases with user confirmation.
Limitations: personal errands and visible browser are not fully supported; background checks consume usage faster than chat.
