Oct 18, 2026 (Reuters) — Anthropic will commit 5% of shares to a new public benefit fund, subject to stockholder approval, with an additional 2% at the board’s discretion for every 50% increase in company value above an undisclosed baseline.
The fund is a wholly owned LLC (not a 501(c)(3)), may make nonprofit donations or direct distributions (including labor-market impact programs), and will not use equity for lobbying or political giving in the US or abroad.
Combined with prior founder pledges (80% equity donation commitment) and employee equity-match (~half of employees participate), roughly 20% of shares are earmarked for public good, plus milestone additions.
