Replit CEO Amjad Masad said Thursday onstage at TechCrunch Disrupt that the AI coding platform is no longer working with Anthropic, citing cost, partnership terms, and performance. Replit announced an OpenAI partnership in August; Masad said internal benchmarks showed OpenAI’s Sol and Astra models performed better on building vibe-coded applications from scratch.
Replit’s cloud IDE previously used Claude models under its Anthropic partnership. Insiders disputed Masad’s claim that the partnership had ended, noting recent blog posts and social posts still referenced Claude Fable 5/5.1 and Opus 5.5 in production.
Masad said enterprise grew from about 2% of revenue last year to roughly 15% this year, with more than 50% of revenue now B2B. He emphasized agent “habitat” requirements: orchestration, error recovery, safety, sandboxing, networking, and identity.
