Users reported Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses recording audio without the “Hey Meta” wake phrase and with “Respond without Hey Meta” disabled. Recordings appeared in the Meta AI app conversation history.
Meta told Android Authority the issue “has been resolved” and pointed users to voice-log settings. Meta did not explain root cause, firmware link, or scale of affected devices. Privacy advocates had already warned about inconspicuous recording; Meta markets an LED indicator during capture, but inadvertent recording undermines that assurance.
