Seeds for P-192 through P-521 were generated with POSIX drand48/lrand48 initialized from Unix timestamps (May 1997–April 1998), not hashed secret phrases. Valsorda independently reimplemented the algorithm in Go and donated the tripled $36,864 prize to ISRG (Let’s Encrypt). No new cryptographic weakness; curves remain in use.
