Anthropic/Harvard/QuEra preprint (October 2026): OpenEvolve evolutionary search with Claude Mythos 5 proposes quantum circuit programs scored by an independent evaluator. Seven of eight primitives beat published Toffoli and qubit counts; Reed–Solomon decoder gates cut ~12× vs prior Google construction; divsteps modular inversion run (~53h) yielded 17× fewer Toffoli gates at ~12% more qubits.
