Google has already added AI features to the Play Store, including Ask Play, which is expanding into a more general AI-powered discovery interface with Gemini rolling out similar capabilities. Game Finder uses usage data from 1.2 billion Android gamers to build Gamer DNA profiles and personalized recommendations.
For vibe-coded apps built in AI Studio, Google will let creators pipe projects directly into the Play Store without downloading APKs or using the developer console initially. Adding a vibe-coded app creates a “Personal Library” visible only to the owner by default for install and management through Google’s system.
Users can share these apps with “a small group” of friends and family without a developer account; Google has not finalized group size limits. Wider distribution will require onboarding to a developer profile and standard Play review guidelines. Private apps are not reviewed by Google.
Private vibe-coded apps begin rolling out today in the US and select markets. A private-to-public migration path arrives in coming months.
