September 17, 2026 — PlanetScale released Lead, a Postgres FTS extension with the same feature set and TINQL compatibility as TIN but deliberately slow. Every search is a full table scan; the 8GB Wikipedia corpus that TIN searches at 10,260 QPS takes four minutes per query with Lead.
Lead supports CREATE INDEX, INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE with correct snapshot isolation, BM25 scoring, and hit highlighting. Intended for tests, CI, dev, and staging while production runs on TIN.
