JDK 27 reached general availability on September 15, 2026 — the 18th feature release delivered on time through the six-month release cadence.
Nine JEPs ship in this release: four preview features and one incubator feature covering language, security, performance, runtime, and library improvements.
Post-quantum hybrid TLS 1.3 key exchange (JEP 527) helps organizations prepare for quantum-resistant communications. Structured Concurrency (JEP 533, seventh preview) continues maturation of async task orchestration patterns.
Compact object headers (JEP 534) enabled by default can reduce heap footprint for large Java estates. JFR in-process data redaction (JEP 536) supports observability privacy.
Oracle will provide updates to JDK 27 until March 2027 when superseded by Oracle JDK 28.
