Paris-La Défense, 14 September 2026 — Worldline launches a payment handler for the Universal Commerce Protocol (UCP), an open standard for agentic commerce co-developed by Google and industry partners. Among the first European payment firms to support AI-initiated purchases.
Merchants declare payment configuration once and accept card payments, mobile wallets, and European payment methods (iDEAL/WERO, PayPal, Google Pay) across any UCP-connected AI platform. Available via Worldline’s Global Collect cross-border payment platform.
Stijn Gasthuys, Head of Global Commerce & CEO Global Collect: “As AI starts to play a bigger role in how consumers discover and buy products, merchants are looking for ways to capture these new opportunities without adding complexity.”
Gertjan Dewaele, VP Product & Technology: built a universal UCP adaptor bridging agentic commerce platforms and merchant backends.
Worldline has also tested AI agent payments with ING through separate Visa and Mastercard projects.
