Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino stated on August 15, 2026 that the company is not building a blockchain and has no plans to launch one. In an X post, Ardoino wrote: “Tether is NOT building any blockchain nor has plan to build one. We remain agnostic and support many transport layers for our stablecoins.”
The clarification responded to a CoinMarketCap Academy analysis grouping Tether with Stripe (developing Tempo) and Circle (developing Arc) as stablecoin issuers building dedicated “stablechain” rails. Ardoino emphasized transport neutrality across external Layer 1 and Layer 2 networks rather than proprietary chain control.
The article also notes Tether completed its first full independent financial statement audit with KPMG U.S. for Tether International Limited covering 2025, separate from quarterly BDO attestations.
