Google’s HEIR Compiler Turns Homomorphic Encryption Into a Practical Tool for Private AI

Google released HEIR, converting pretrained models to accept encrypted inputs without server-side decryption. Jeremy Kun announced the project on the Google Security Blog.

Four demo applications ship with source on GitHub. Partners include Belfort Labs, LG, NYU (recommendations), plus Niobium and academic collaborators.

FHE remains significantly slower than plaintext but is moving toward implementable stacks for regulated sectors (healthcare, finance).
