Twitch chief product officer Mike Minton said the “honest answer” for why Twitch trains Amazon’s generative AI models on user content by default is that “if it was opt-in, nobody would opt in.” Twitch users can opt out via Security and Privacy settings. Minton defended the default because “almost every content service in the world” does the same.

The policy covers streams, VODs, clips, chats, and channel content. Opting out prevents future generative AI training but not other AI features like AutoMod or captions.
