Starting mid-September 2026, Spotify will display an “AI Persona” badge on artist profiles whose identity may be AI-generated and does not represent a real person. By default, Spotify will not include AI Personas in editorial or algorithmic recommendations unless users follow them.
Artists can self-disclose via Spotify for Artists starting August 11, 2026. Spotify will also review profiles using human review and AI investigative tools, starting with artists meeting defined audience thresholds. The badge applies to the artist’s public identity (name and imagery), not how the music was made. Labeled artists can appeal. Spotify continues investing in its own AI features including AI DJ, Prompted Playlists, and forthcoming AI remixes under UMG and Merlin licensing deals.
