Red Hat leads open-source project to automate AI governance

IBM Corp.’s Red Hat subsidiary today announced the formation of asago, an open-source community project intended to turn artificial intelligence governance policies into operational controls that can be deployed with AI systems.
Short for AI Safety and Governance Orchestration, asago is intended to connect compliance teams, data scientists and infrastructure administrators. It aims to automate interpreting policies, assessing risks, recommending safeguards and producing deployment configurations while preserving an audit trail linking each control to the policy requirement behind it.
Four-stage workflow:
- Interpret governance policies and map to frameworks (NIST AI RMF, OWASP Top 10 for LLM Apps, EU AI Act) using IBM AI Risk Atlas.
- Generate and run safety tests tailored to use-case risks.
- Recommend mitigations/guardrails and record rationale.
- Translate controls into deployment-ready configs for hybrid cloud/Kubernetes, including Kubernetes, Terraform and Ansible artifacts.

Builds on Open Secure AI Alliance work by Red Hat and Nvidia.
License: Apache 2.0. Currently in project formation phase; GitHub repository and project website available for early adopters.
