Cash App removes all fees on large Bitcoin purchases and recurring buys

July 26, 2026

Block’s payment app drops transaction costs to zero for purchases over $2,000 and all automated Bitcoin buys, challenging every major exchange on price.

Cash App announced it is eliminating all fees and spreads on Bitcoin purchases exceeding $2,000, as well as on every recurring and automated buy. Users setting up Auto Invest schedules or rounding up purchases pay nothing extra. For a platform that has offered Bitcoin since 2017, this is described as its most aggressive pricing move.

What changed

Previously, Cash App ran a tiered fee structure: small purchases up to 2.0%, and 1,999 still at 0.9%, plus a spread between market and execution price. Now, for any single purchase above $2,000, both fee and spread are zero. The same applies to all recurring buys via Auto Invest and Round Ups regardless of size. Cash App also announced higher Bitcoin withdrawal limits (thresholds not detailed). The company emphasizes 1:1 backing and 24/7 withdrawal access.

Competitive context

Dollar-cost averaging fees on frequent small buys add up; zeroing those costs targets long-term holders. Block (Jack Dorsey) has a Bitcoin-first stance; Cash App also supports Lightning Network payments. For Block shareholders, the open question is whether zero-fee Bitcoin trades drive enough engagement to offset lost fee revenue.
