Anthropic launches Claude Opus 5

Anthropic released Claude Opus 5, claiming near Fable 5 intelligence at half the cost. Priced 25 per MTok (same as Opus 4.8). Becomes default on Claude Max and strongest model on Claude Pro. API ID: claude-opus-5. Also shipping: Fast mode (~2.5× speed at 2× price), automatic API fallback routing, mid-conversation tool changes without invalidating prompt cache. Company claims SOTA on Frontier-Bench and strong CursorBench/AutomationBench/OSWorld results.
