Travis Kalanick’s Atoms raised $1.7 billion to develop physical AI for industrial sectors. Equity led by Andreessen Horowitz; Ben Horowitz joins the board.

Atoms continues Kalanick’s effort to digitize the physical world that began with Uber and continued with CloudKitchens. City Storage Systems (CloudKitchens, Otter, Lab37, Picnic, ProFood Properties) was transformed into Atoms; food businesses form Atoms Food foundation, with expansion into robotics, autonomous logistics, mining and transport.

Kalanick: industrial AI (software, sensors, robotics, AI) will power the next industrial revolution. “Food was just the beginning.”
