Tech.eu, July 20, 2026: Cambridge-based CuspAI confirmed a 2.6 billion — a five-fold jump from its September 2025 520M valuation. Two-year-old company has now raised more than $670M total.

Round co-led by Kleiner Perkins and NEA with “significant participation” from Bezos Expeditions (Jeff Bezos family office). New investors also include Glade Brook Capital Partners, Lux Capital, AMDVentures, Tru Arrow Partners, StepStone, and the UK’s Sovereign AI Fund (government-backed VC for domestic AI startups; invests £5M–£10M per deal). Existing investors Temasek, Basis Set Ventures, Giant Ventures, Phoenix Court, and Northzone also participated.

CuspAI develops AI systems to discover and design new physical materials for clean energy, semiconductors, manufacturing, water treatment, and carbon capture. Advisers include Yann LeCun and Geoffrey Hinton. Customers include ASML and Meta; product works as a search engine where customers specify needed material properties.

Use of proceeds: expansion across US, APAC, and Europe, including new “AI Materials Foundry” — described as a global network of data, labs, compute, and scientific expertise for materials design. Founding partners of the network include Nvidia, Meta, Samsung, and Hyundai, plus more than 40 other companies.

John Doerr (Doerr Capital): “Materials discovery has quietly been a bottleneck behind progress in energy, semiconductors, and climate. What’s remarkable about Cusp is that a single platform is already solving hard problems across industries—from stripping forever chemicals from drinking water to designing next-generation chip materials.”
