Tesla rolled out its Robotaxi service in part of Miami on July 3, 2026, announcing the launch on X. A map showed a small patch of West Miami, away from busy downtown. Tesla is running the Miami cars without a safety monitor, VP of AI software Ashok Elluswamy confirmed on X — a jump in confidence from Austin’s June 2025 launch where monitors sat in the passenger seat.
Waymo launched driverless service in Miami in April 2026. Amazon’s Zoox is testing there too. CEO Elon Musk said on Tesla’s April earnings call the company aims to offer robotaxi service in a dozen states by end of 2026, including Orlando, Tampa, and Phoenix.
