Alibaba to ban Claude Code in workplace over alleged backdoor risks

Reuters reports Alibaba will ban employees from using Claude Code in workspace environments from July 10, 2026 due to alleged embedded backdoors. Move first reported by Chinese outlet Yicai. Alibaba did not immediately respond to comment. Ban follows Anthropic’s accusation of largest-known distillation attack by Alibaba-linked operators.
