Visa Announces New AI, Stablecoin and Token Innovations at Visa Payments Forum

At Visa Payments Forum 2026 (June 10, San Francisco), Visa announced new AI, stablecoin, and token capabilities for intelligent, programmable commerce.

Visa Intelligent Commerce updates

  • Agent Score: Created with New Generation; lets merchants evaluate website readiness for agentic commerce — whether AI agents can navigate, understand, and complete tasks.
  • Agentic Directory: Verified registry of legitimate agents and merchants participating in agentic commerce.
  • Large Transaction Model: AI model trained on billions of transactions to improve fraud detection, increase authorization performance, and reduce false declines.
  • OpenAI partnership: Visa provides network, credentialing, and security infrastructure for agentic commerce across OpenAI experiences.

Stablecoin and token infrastructure

Visa is building a technology layer letting banks turn traditional deposits into programmable, always-on digital money. Stablecoin settlement pilots expanded across regions, blockchains, and currencies. As of March 2026, stablecoin activity on VisaNet ran at an annualized pace of approximately $7 billion.

Visa also showed an early Crypto Labs proof of concept letting AI agents pay for digital services in a CLI using tokenized Visa credentials.
