June 4, 2026 — Bipartisan House lawmakers released a 269-page draft of the Great American Artificial Intelligence Act regulating frontier AI model development with focus on cyberattack protection, fraud prevention, and AI-literate workforce.
Requires frontier developers (300M budget FY2027–2029 and authorizes hiring technical experts above traditional government salary limits.
CAISI would certify Independent Verification Organizations (IVOs) to audit AI firm compliance. CISA would award grants to U.S.-based critical open-source package maintainers for patching and security evaluations. AI firms must provide OSS developers access to advanced models for vulnerability finding and fixing.
