June 2, 2026 — GitHub announced the Copilot desktop app at Microsoft Build 2026, an agent-native control center for parallel development workflows. Technical preview available for Copilot Pro, Pro+, Business, and Enterprise on Windows, macOS, and Linux.
Every session runs in an isolated git worktree. Features include Canvas bidirectional work surfaces, Agent Merge for CI/PR automation, cloud and local sandboxes, and Copilot SDK GA in Node.js/TypeScript, Python, Go, .NET, Rust, and Java.
The app provides a “My Work” dashboard showing active sessions, issues, pull requests, and background automations across connected repositories. Microsoft also redesigned Copilot CLI with voice mode and experimental tabbed access to PRs, issues, and gists.
Broad rollout to all Copilot Pro/Business/Enterprise subscribers expanded June 5, 2026.
